Buy One, Get Any One Free: Stubbyz "One Size"

Most stubby holders are a cup. Neoprene walls, a sewn-in base, a drink sits inside it and the whole thing stands up on the table. That is the standard Stubbyz and it is what most people want most of the time.

One Size is not that.

One Size has no base at all, and that one difference changes what it is good for.

What "baseless" actually means

There is no bottom panel. The neoprene is a sleeve, open at both ends, so your drink goes through it rather than into it. Say that out loud and it sounds like something is missing. In practice it is the reason the thing works.

A based holder is built around one drink size. The base sets the diameter, the walls sit where the base tells them to, and a can that is too slim rattles around while a bottle that is too fat will not go in at all. Take the base away and the sleeve can stretch to whatever you put through it.

So one holder covers two jobs. It grips a slim Euro-style bottle snugly, the sort of long-necked 330mL bottle that falls straight through a standard holder. Then the same sleeve pulls over a standard 375mL can or bottle without complaint. Whatever comes out of the esky, it fits.

The part people do not expect

Fold a One Size in half and it goes completely flat, near enough to the thickness of a folded washed cloth and a good deal lighter.

That makes it the holder you actually take with you. It goes in a back pocket on the way to a festival and you forget it is there. It lives in a jacket pocket through footy season. It goes in a bumbag, a glovebox, the side pocket of a camp chair, or the bottom of a handbag without taking up the room a based holder takes up.

Anyone who has tried to pack four rigid stubby holders for a weekend knows the problem. They do not squash. They take up esky space you wanted for drinks. One Size solves that by being barely there until you need it.

What it does not do

Worth being straight about this, because it is the one thing that surprises people.

There is no base under the can to hold it up. So the can/bottle holds itself up! You put your drink down, the drink stands and the sleeve stays around it, but the holder is not doing any of the standing.

It also will not insulate the bottom of the can, because there is nothing there. In practice you are holding the can around its sides, which is where your hand is warming it anyway, so the difference is small. But if you want a holder that sits your drink on a neoprene pad away from a hot table, you want a based one.
